Accounting is Here — Double-Entry Bookkeeping for Tanzania Businesses
Today we're launching the Accounting module — the most-requested feature since eSecured ERP Platform went live. It's full double-entry bookkeeping, built directly into the platform, and it works for any Tanzania business — not just logistics companies.
What's included
Tanzania Standard Chart of Accounts
Setting up a Chart of Accounts from scratch is time-consuming. We've done it for you.
The Tanzania Standard CoA is a pre-built account structure tailored for Tanzania businesses — covering freight revenue, customs & forwarding income, operational expenses, driver allowances, LATRA/SUMATRA fees, VAT accounts, and standard financial accounts across all six categories: Income, Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses, Assets, Liabilities, and Equity.
One click seeds your Chart of Accounts. You can add, edit, or block accounts at any time.
Journal Entries
Create manual journal entries for accruals, adjustments, prepayments, and corrections. Every journal is validated for balance before posting — the system enforces the fundamental rule: debits must equal credits.
Journals start as Drafts so you can review and edit freely. When you're ready, post them. Posting is permanent and creates immutable GL entries — the same guarantee you'd expect from any professional accounting system.
General Ledger
Every posted journal line becomes a GL entry with a sequential entry number, document reference, and full audit trail. The General Ledger viewer lets you filter by account, document type, and date range.
Drill down directly from any account in the Chart of Accounts — click the 📒 icon to jump straight to the GL filtered for that account.
Account balances on the CoA
The Chart of Accounts now shows a running balance column for every posting account, computed from all posted GL entries. Credit-normal accounts (Income, Liabilities, Equity) display their natural credit balance. Debit-normal accounts (Assets, Expenses) display their natural debit balance.
Works for any business
The Accounting module is completely independent. You don't need the Logistics or Clearing modules to use it. A trading company, a professional services firm, or an NGO can use eSecured ERP for accounting alone — with the option to add operational modules later.
This changes who eSecured ERP Platform is for. It's no longer just for logistics and clearing companies. It's for any Tanzania business that needs structured double-entry bookkeeping and TRA-compliant invoicing in one place.
What's coming next
The accounting roadmap continues:
- Financial Reports — Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and VAT Report generated directly from GL data
- Bank Accounts & Reconciliation — link bank accounts and reconcile statements against GL entries
- Auto-posting — invoices and approved expenses post to the GL automatically
